I can;t think of anyone in their right mind that would have XML at a language level (please remember the fallen ones...SQLJ anyone?). As for properties, really, I don't understand what the fuss is about. Closures maybe, there's even some latitude for operator overloading (mainly indexers on Collections, but that's another issue entirely) but property syntax? Sun should be more concerned with things like the Isolation API, and MVM, and taking advantage of multi-core processors, perhaps even being able to run the Swing EDT on a separate core to your application threads......
